Overview

Bickerstaff attorneys represent governmental entities and private employers in all aspects of employment law. We advise clients on employment policies and procedures, hiring and disciplinary matters, workplace investigations, employee leave and accommodation issues, wage and hour compliance, and other day-to-day employment matters. We also represent employers before administrative agencies and in state and federal courts when employment disputes arise.

Developing personnel manuals and policies dealing with discrimination and harassment; the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA); the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and related leave issues; and email and computer use.

Development of sound hiring and termination practices; training regarding harassment and discrimination, and the FMLA and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA); handling of ERISA, COBRA, Section 125 “cafeteria plan,” and other benefits issues; assisting with state and federal public information laws; and counseling on employment-based immigration needs.

Representing employers in lawsuits brought pursuant to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, Texas Labor Code, Family Medical Leave Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, Texas Whistleblower Act and Constitutional rights.
