General Counseling – Serving as outside general counsel to government entities including governmental clients in all areas of public law from compliance with open meetings / open records laws to special issues related to ethics, real estate acquisition and development, and economic development.
Litigation – Counseling and representation of governmental clients in litigation and other matters involving annexation, employment, real estate and housing, constitutional rights, open government, and general civil matters. Representation of clients before all levels of State and Federal courts.
School Law – Counseling and representing schools in Title VII, Title IX and Title I claims, matters related to student discipline and safety, student rights, special education compliance, and all aspects of general counseling.
Litigation on Behalf of Cities – Successfully litigated dispute at the trial and appellate levels between two Cities over annexation issues; represented City in tort case involving personal injury at a public event.
Employment Litigation – Represented multiple entities charged with discrimination complaints before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Texas Commission on Human Rights.
Construction Cases – Successfully prosecuted and settled claim on behalf of a school district against multiple contractors for failure to perform per the terms of the construction contract.
Other Cases – Defended community college against claims by student regarding environmental hazards.
