Brad Young recently wrote an article for the Texas City Attorneys Association (TCAA) on the effect of the Texas Public Information Act on private parties. In Mr. Young’s article, he discusses two recent Texas Supreme Court cases addressing whether a private business forfeits its right to protect private business information when it contracts with a government entity. Mr. Young delves deeper into Boeing Co. v. Paxton and Waste Management of Texas, Inc. v. Abbott, two cases involving this issue, and discusses how the Texas Supreme Court’s recent opinions in both these cases affect Texas cities.
