Our firm's expertise in this area is grounded in the special ties our attorneys have with Mexico. Several of our attorneys are Spanish-speaking; two are Mexican-born. Another is educated in Mexico, licensed to practice law in Mexico, and experienced in the banking, corporate, and governmental sectors of Mexico. In addition, our representation of large corporations and emerging businesses seeking U.S./Mexican economic ventures is based on a growing network of experienced contacts. This unusual expertise gives the firm a proven ability to assist in ventures, public and private, between Unites States and Mexican interests.
Our attorneys have worked on international issues with government agencies at the state, federal and international levels, on both sides of the border. We have helped local governments and private businesses faced with international issues to negotiate the maze of conflicting government requirements, cultural differences, and historical precedents on a wide range of issues, including binational bridges, disposal of hazardous waste and the protection of environmentally-sensitive areas.
Our attorneys have extensive experience in working on international issues with the U.S. and Mexican state departments, transportation, customs, and immigration agencies. One of our attorneys has worked extensively in Mexico for the first Commission of Foreign Affairs of the Mexican Senate, the Central Bank of Mexico (Banco de Mexico), and in creating a National Trust Fund (Fideicomiso) for the National Sports Commission of Mexico.

Our International Law experience includes counseling and representing clients in a broad range of transactions, including representing Mexican clients in negotiations to secure foreign financing of Mexican infrastructure projects; representing clients in the resolution of commercial disputes, including litigation involving international transactions; counseling and representing clients with respect to the development and financing of border environmental infrastructure projects; assisting international bridge sponsors in successful negotiations with local, state and federal agencies in the United States and Mexico to obtain required governmental approvals; drafting and negotiating construction contracts and assisting in developing financing for the construction of new international bridges between the United States and Mexico; and representing and assisting the United States telecommunications and energy clients to develop strategic alliances with Mexican businesses.

We advise our United States clients that are doing business with Mexican enterprises or are in the process of expanding business operations into Mexico, as well as Mexican entities doing business with United States enterprises or expanding into the United States. In particular, for our North American clients, we negotiate and draft business agreements, real estate documents, acquisitions and mergers, and franchises; counsel clients regarding environmental and economic regulations; and assist clients in obtaining the necessary permits and certifications to conduct business in Mexico. Our firm works with local counsel in Mexico to provide the necessary support throughout the country.
For our Mexican clients operating in the United States, we offer the full spectrum of legal services that we offer to all of our domestic clients, together with a real understanding of the business, social and political elements that impact Mexican enterprises. Our attorneys advice clients on international legal matters involving administrative and public law, public utility regulation, telecommunications, energy, environmental regulation, insurance, state taxation, and commercial and corporate matters. We also represent clients in all forums for litigation and alternative dispute resolution. In addition, we offer assistance in negotiating financing, investment, franchises, joint venture agreements and other contracts for enterprises expanding into the United States.
