Biography
Prior to earning his law degree, Mr. Ortiz gained valuable business experience in the areas of marketing and management. He worked as a pharmaceutical representative for one of the leading providers of customized sales and marketing in the pharmaceutical industry. His sales region included West Texas and New Mexico. He is also fluent in Spanish.
Representative Experience
Ricardo Ortiz has assisted both plaintiffs and defendants in achieving favorable verdicts. He has a statewide practice with experience in business and tort litigation, complex commercial litigation, general banking law, collections matters, shareholder disputes, product and professional liability, contractual disputes, wrongful death, trade secret, unfair competition, subrogation matters, insurance actions, premises liability, formation of business entities, appellate law, employment matters, and DTPA actions.
His litigation experience includes managing cases up through the trial stage in both state and federal courts. He has trial and appellate level experience. He has conducted and defended numerous depositions, handled many discovery disputes in and out of court, has ADR experience, and has extensive motions practice experience.
Mr. Ortiz has experience representing individuals, small and large businesses, financial institutions, leasing companies, governmental entities, nonprofit organizations, and general counsel to board of directors. Additionally, he has considerable business and client development experience, and significant community involvement through service on boards, committees, and pro bono work.
